How To Setup Thin Ice
To set up Thin Ice, assemble the gameboard and fill the outer ring with water. Insert the marbles into the water. Place a tissue on top of the gameboard, preferably split in half to make it thinner, and cover it with a second hoop to keep it tight. Choose one player to be the scorekeeper and write all players’ names on a sheet of paper. The youngest player starts the game.
Gameplay Mechanics and Game Objective
– Players take turns using tweezers to pick up a marble from the water and place it on the tissue.
– The player passes the tweezers to the next player immediately after placing the marble.
– If the tissue breaks, the player holding the tweezers receives a letter (I, C, E).
– A player is eliminated after receiving all three letters.
– The game ends when only one player remains.
Player Experience
Playing Thin Ice is an exercise in quick reflexes and a bit of luck. The game is simple: grab a marble, place it on the tissue, and pass the tweezers. However, the suspense builds as the tissue sags under the weight of the marbles. The game relies heavily on luck rather than skill, making it more about avoiding responsibility for breaking the tissue than mastering a specific technique.

Personal Thoughts on Thin Ice
Thin Ice is ideal for young children who enjoy dexterity games and simple challenges. While the concept is clever and the setup is intriguing, the game’s reliance on luck rather than skill makes it less engaging for adults. It’s a good introduction to dexterity games but lacks the complexity and strategy that older players often seek.
