Separate and shuffle the adventure cards into four decks, each placed by the board. Give each player three gold and place the remaining gold in a central bank. Place wound, exhaustion, and experience counters in a central pile. Finally, each player randomly chooses a Hero card and places their hero figure in the town of Tamalir.
