Regatta (1967) Board Game

Regatta is a nautical racing board game that was first released in in 1967. Designed for 2 to 6 players, Regatta simulates the competitive world of boat racing, where players navigate their boats around the board to reach the finish line first.

Game Components of Regatta

  • 6 metal yachts
  • 3 metal course markers
  • 1 metal committee boat
  • Special die
  • Spinner island
  • 3 islands
  • Nautical glossary and instructions
  • Maneuver cards for each boat.

    How To Setup Regatta

To set up Regatta, players start by determining the order of play through a dice roll; the player rolling the highest number goes first. Each player then selects a yacht and positions it behind the starting line on any unoccupied space, ensuring they do not “blanket” another yacht. The starting procedure involves seven moves where players aim to achieve the best possible position below the starting line. The Start-Finish line is marked by the Committee Boat and one of the Course Marks, two spaces apart for each boat. During the initial phase, boats must avoid touching the starting line between the 6th and 7th turn, and they have five moves to cross the gate completely before the race officially starts on the 8th move.
