To set up Port Royal, shuffle the entire deck and deal 3 cards to each player with the coin side face up, which will be used as money. For a 5-player game, remove the expedition card showing 5 hats on the back and place it to the side. The remaining deck is placed in the center of the table, and a start player is selected.
