How To Setup Lost World
To set up the game, place the 12 human tokens at the main building (temple) on the left side of the board. Position the 4 Raptor tokens in the spaces marked with Raptor icons near the helicopter pad. The T-Rex token starts on a special track near the main building. The board is designed to mimic the environment of Site B, complete with buildings and paths for movement.
Gameplay Mechanics and Game Objective
– Humans roll white dice: one die numbered 2-4 and one die with ‘Jump’ and ‘Go’ sides. ‘Jump’ allows movement between buildings, and ‘Go’ continues the turn until ‘Stop’ is rolled.
– Humans can move along circular spaces on the dotted trail and use buildings with ‘Jump’ noted on the roof to avoid dinosaurs.
– Dinosaurs roll black dice: similar to humans but with ‘Enter’ instead of ‘Jump’. ‘Enter’ allows dinosaurs to burst into buildings, killing humans inside.
– The red die moves the T-Rex one space or not at all. If the T-Rex reaches the main building, it eats any remaining humans there.
Player Experience
The game is known for its fast-paced action and easy-to-learn mechanics. It’s a simple yet engaging game that doesn’t require extensive strategy, making it suitable for a casual game night. The asymmetrical gameplay adds an interesting dynamic, with humans trying to escape and dinosaurs trying to hunt them down. The 3D board and the ‘Jump’ and ‘Enter’ mechanics add a fun and immersive element to the game.

Personal Thoughts on Lost World
This game is perfect for fans of the Jurassic Park series and those who enjoy light, competitive board games. It’s a great addition to any game collection for families or casual gamers looking for a fun and quick game night experience. However, it may not appeal to serious board game enthusiasts seeking complex strategies and deep gameplay mechanics. If you’re looking for a game that captures the essence of survival and predation in a thrilling way, The Lost World: Jurassic Park Board Game is an excellent choice.
