K’uh Nah (2019) Board Game

K’uh Nah is a board game released in 2019 that draws inspiration from the Mayan culture of Guatemala and Mexico. Designed by Amandine Dugon and Michael Parla, this game by WizKids challenges players to push their luck and make strategic decisions to win the favor of the gods.

Game Components of K’uh Nah

  • 50 cards
  • 48 Jade tokens
  • 1 Rulebook

    How To Setup K’uh Nah

To set up K’uh Nah, each player receives 8 jade tokens, which can be kept secret. The card deck is shuffled, and a number of cards are removed based on the number of players (from 2 to 6). The remaining cards are placed face down, and the top two cards are flipped face up to create the Quarry in the center of the table.

    Gameplay Mechanics and Game Objective

  • Player Actions: Players can either place a jade token on one of the face-up cards in the Quarry or take one of the cards in the Quarry along with any jade tokens on it and place it legally in their pyramid.
  • Card Placement: Cards must be placed legally, with heavier (higher number) values supporting lighter ones or matching the symbol of the card directly above them. The purple jaguar symbol acts as a wild card.
  • Game End: The game ends when the draw deck is empty and no more cards can be placed in the Quarry.
  • Scoring: The game is scored by adding up the face value of every card not supporting another card and subtracting all jade tokens. The player with the lowest score wins.
