How To Setup Imperial Miners
To set up Imperial Miners, each player chooses a color and takes the corresponding surface board. The four decks of mine cards are shuffled, and each player receives a starting hand of 8 Mine cards, from which they choose to keep four. Three out of the six available progress boards are randomly selected and laid out on the table. The event deck is shuffled, and ten cards are drawn for the game. Each player places their surface board in front of them, and the game is ready to begin.
Gameplay Mechanics and Game Objective
– Each round consists of an Event Phase and a Mine Phase.
– In the Event Phase, an event card is drawn, which may change the rules for the current round.
– In the Mine Phase, players simultaneously add a card to their mine, paying the required cost and activating the card and all cards above it.
– Cards are placed in a honeycomb structure, with each card supporting cards below it.
– Players advance on progress boards to gain additional bonuses and victory points.
– The game ends after 10 rounds, and victory points are tallied from gems and mine cart icons.
Player Experience
Imperial Miners offers a quick and engaging experience with zero downtime due to simultaneous turns. The game is praised for its easy-to-learn rules and satisfying gameplay loop, allowing players to build complex combos and synergies between cards. However, it lacks any form of player interaction, making it feel more like a solo game with a multiplayer variant. This aspect can be a turn-off for some players who enjoy social interaction during games.

Personal Thoughts on Imperial Miners
Imperial Miners is ideal for players who enjoy engine-building games and are looking for a quick, yet satisfying experience. It is perfect for both casual and experienced gamers, especially those who appreciate building complex combos without the need for player interaction. However, for players who value social interaction and direct competition in their games, Imperial Miners might not be the best fit. Despite this, the game’s replayability and fun combos make it a great addition to any game collection.
