    How To Setup Gooseberry

To set up Gooseberry, players are dealt one code card each, ensuring one player receives the “Gooseberry” card. A topic card is revealed, and the dice are rolled to determine the hidden word on the topic card. Each player then looks at their code card to find the corresponding word, except for the Gooseberry, who has no clue.

    Gameplay Mechanics and Game Objective

  • Role Assignment: One player is the Gooseberry (or Chameleon), while the others are normal players.
  • Word Selection: Each player, including the Gooseberry, thinks of a single word related to the hidden word.
  • Word Announcement: Players take turns announcing their word without hesitation.
  • Discussion: Players discuss and argue about who they think the Gooseberry is, without revealing the hidden word.
  • Voting: Players vote on who they believe is the Gooseberry.
  • Winning Conditions: If the accused player is not the Gooseberry, the Gooseberry wins. If the accused player is the Gooseberry and correctly guesses the hidden word after being identified, the Gooseberry still wins.

    Personal Thoughts on Gooseberry

Gooseberry is ideal for those who enjoy social deduction and bluffing games like Spyfall or Fake Artist. It’s a great addition to game nights or family gatherings, offering a light and fast-paced experience. However, players seeking more complex gameplay might find it lacking. The game’s simplicity and customization options make it a fun, if not deeply strategic, addition to any game collection.
