Dominoes (1500)

Dominoes

Dominoes are believed to have originated in China during the 12th century, though Egyptian or Arabian origins are also theorized. The earliest mention of dominoes is from Song dynasty China found in the text Former Events in Wulin by Zhou Mi (1232–1298). Modern dominoes first appeared in Italy during the 18th century, but they differ from Chinese dominoes in a number of respects, and there is no confirmed link between the two. The game became fashionable in France in the mid-18th century, and the name domino was first recorded in 1771, in the Dictionnaire de Trévoux.

Why is Dominoes Popular?

Dominoes are one of the oldest tools for game play, and they allow for a variety of games, as well as tests of skill and patience. The game is popular worldwide, with Latin America being the most popular region. The game is also significant because it helps teach kids number recognition and math skills.
