  • Instructions

    How To Setup Clue Express

To set up Clue Express, ensure each black die has one picture of each of the six suspects, and the blue die has the six unique symbols. Choose between the Detective or Master Detective game modes; for the Master Detective game, refer to the additional rules. If playing the Detective game, return the six Driver cards to the box. Sort and shuffle the Brains and Brawn cards separately. Place the top card from each deck into the Case File Envelope face down. Shuffle the remaining cards together and deal them out to the players. Each player receives a sheet from the Detective Pad and marks off the corresponding spots based on their dealt cards.

    Gameplay Mechanics and Game Objective

  • Roll the Dice: Players roll the dice to get three suspects.
  • Make a Suggestion: Choose one suspect die for Brains and one for Brawn, and place them on the Suggestion Board.
  • Prove Suggestion Wrong: Other players show cards to disprove the suggestion.
  • Bonus Actions: Rolling the eye symbol allows a peek at the Case File Envelope, while the pointed finger symbol lets you make a free accusation.
  • Final Accusation: Make a final guess by placing the Suspect dice on the Suggestion Board and checking the Case File Envelope.
  • Objective: Correctly identify the Brains and Brawn suspects to win the game.

    Player Experience

Clue Express offers a quick and engaging experience, perfect for families or those with limited time. The game maintains the core deduction mechanics of the original Clue but streamlines it for faster gameplay. Players must strategically use the dice rolls and card information to make accurate suggestions and accusations.

    Pros

  • Quick Gameplay: Lasts only 20 minutes.
  • Easy to Learn: Simple rules make it accessible to younger players.
  • Portable: Compact design makes it easy to take anywhere.
  • Family-Friendly: Suitable for players aged 8 and above.

    Cons

  • Limited Depth: Simplified rules may lack the complexity and strategy of the original Clue.
  • Luck Factor: Dice rolls introduce a significant element of luck.
  • Negative Reception: Some fans of the original Clue have expressed disappointment with this version.

    Personal Thoughts on Clue Express

Clue Express is ideal for those who enjoy the classic Clue game but need a more time-efficient version. It is perfect for families with younger children or for casual game nights where a quick, fun mystery-solving experience is desired.
