Arkham Horror is a cooperative board game designed by Richard Launius and Kevin Wilson, and published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2005. The game is set in the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts, which is featured in many of the stories by horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. Players take on the roles of investigators who are trying to prevent the arrival of an Ancient One, a powerful and malevolent being from another dimension, who seeks to destroy the world.

Game Setup of Arkham Horror

Gameplay Mechanics of Arkham Horror

Players take turns performing two actions, such as moving to a new location, drawing a card, or fighting a monster. Each turn, the players must also resolve an encounter, which can result in gaining clues, losing sanity or stamina, or encountering a monster or gate. The game also features a mechanic called the Mythos Phase, which occurs at the end of each turn and can result in the arrival of new monsters or gates, or other negative effects.

Game Objective of Arkham Horror

The objective of the game is to prevent the Ancient One from awakening and destroying the world. Players must gather clues, close gates to other dimensions, and defeat monsters in order to weaken the Ancient One and prevent its arrival.
